Rebein Elected Vice President of Kansas Bar Association
Dodge City attorney David J. Rebein was elected Vice President of the over
6,000-member Kansas Bar Association at its annual convention.
“It is great to be recognized by your peers,” said Rebein. “My job will be to help
the KBA make justice accessible to everyone.”
Rebein was elected at KBA’s 122nd annual meeting, held June 17-19 in Topeka.
His previous KBA positions include representing KBA’s District Nine for six years,
which covers 24 counties, along with serving on the KBA’s Journal Board of Editors and
KBA’s Mentoring Committee.
Currently Rebein serves on the KBA’s Professional Ethics Grievance and Bench-Bar committees and the KBA’s Litigation and Employment Law sections. Also, he now
serves on the Kansas Supreme Court Nominating Commission, is a Kansas Bar
Foundation Fellow and member of the KBA Board of Governors since 1977.
“I want to make justice more accessible to people by making sure the courts are
not just for people who can pay for legal assistance. There needs to be more recognition
of lawyers who give freely of their time to the less fortunate. Many, many lawyers in
Kansas are providing pro bono assistance and their efforts are not acknowledged,”
Rebein said. “I want to help the courts address backlogs of cases and that lawyers have
the best possible training.”
Since 1999, Rebein has been Director of the Continuing Legal Education program
for the Southwest Kansas Bar Association’s annual convention. The group’s membership
includes 250 members from 26 counties.
Rebein has been an active member of the profession, having served as past
president of the Ford-Gray County Bar Association; past president of the Kansas
Association of Defense Counsel and served on the Board of Governors of the KU Law
School.
He is founder and partner of the Rebein Bangerter law firm, based in Dodge City. |
